DVD 7308 DON SEBASTIAN ROI DU PORTUGAL

Not a great recording but for Donizetti fans, one worth having. The sound is mostly good enough but the picture is not. It is often a bit indistinct and the cutting between acts and scenes is poor. A few 'skips' and camera movement occasionally. However - the opera is distinct enough to watch and follow quite easily (I had a synopsis from the web with me). I am pleased to have it as there is practically nothing else available. Have watched the other Bergamo version from 1998 and the picture was worse. It is an opera I like very much so I am pleased to have this copy, with all its faults.
