DVD 5299 THE TALES OF HOFFMANN

Everything about this production is HUGE: venue, stage, props, chorus, but especially the quality of the music and singing! The cast is amazing. Marcus Haddock as Hoffmann sang at such volume, I thought he would use himself up before the end of the show, but he went on and on and on with huge energy. Angelika Kirschlager as Nicklausse; Jose Van Dam as the villains; Natalie Dessay as Olympia; Beatrice Uria Monzon as Giulietta; Leontina Vaduva as Antonia; Jean-Paul Fouchecourt as Andres/Cochnille/Frantz; all splendid! Made for French television production, the picture is great and so is the sound. Wonderful show. See it!
