DVD 5147 ROSSINI AT VERSAILLES

This is a wonderful Concert,supposedly given in the presence of Rossini(played by British actor Paul Brook)we have Rainondi singing "Calumnia"in his inimitable fashion,he also joins in other pieces,Caballe singing"Selva Opaca"from William Tell,wonderfully,a duet from"Tancredi with Horne full of fiery coloratura,she also sings in the "Preghiera" from "Moses"and plays the castanets in Sam Rameys aria from "Il Viaggio a Rheims"(now theres a piece of fantastic singing for you)Horne sings wonderfully in the above duet with Caballe,and a song in the "INTERMISSION".there is quite a bit of out of the ordinary music to delight us here,a very enjoyable couple of hours,may I suggest you buy it,you won't be sorry if you like fantastic singing from the Golden age of Rossini singing in the 20th.Century.
