The big surprise here..except for those who have heard her,is Antonietta Stella.Her Lps generally do not capoture her well..and this performance shows why,for a short period of time, she was the outstanding Verdi spinto of her generation.Full,beautiful spinto voice,beautiful woman, and a good enough actress for opera.Anyone who had heard her live will be pleased to have this disc.The usual problem with copies from Japanese television,but,as usual, outstanding performance by Bergonzi in one of his signature roles.
