The opera is filmed from a single camera on the left side of the theater. It is very well done. The picture is quite clear, maybe the clearest I've seen on any non-commercial DVD. The sound is very good. The performances are very good. I have no idea what this opera is about. It is rather gruesome with stabbings, kidnappings, etc. (I think). The tenor's head gets chopped off (I think - it's kind of dark and these sinister characters who show up now and then do something to the corpse with an ax. There are also some weird religious things going on. This opera does not sound like Puccini, so to enjoy it, it seems to me, one needs to know what's going on. The music itself will not knock you over. So I'm giving it 5 stars because of the picture, sound and performance, not because I myself found it particularly enjoyable. It runs about 95 minutes.
