On his debut night at Covent Garden in March 1974, Carreras suddenly saw the general director on stage in the middle of his second act aria cancelling the rest of the performance as to a bomb-threat ... This performance is a few weeks later (April 15th) - Bravo to everyone in the cast with a near ideal Cotrubas as Violetta and a wonderful young and lyric Carreras. The spanish tenor hadn´t yet incorporated true dramatic style in his voice, but then again here is a lovely unspoilt reading.
